After doing the agency dance for a while I've shifted my focus to line of business apps. Agency work is fun and innovative for sure yet sometimes it's more about being creative for creativity's sake than creating a useful product. Nothing wrong with that tho, I just prefer to work on long lasting and recurrent experiences than hit and run campaigns with short life spans.
While most of the work is done in the back-end enforcing business rules and accessing / manipulating data it's with the front-end, hand crafting the User Experience where I have the most fun. On the server side I work with the . Net stack, favoring MVC over webforms and Entity Framework (Code First) over Linq to Sql. For the browser the usual suspects: html, css and javascript (jQuery intensive).
Right now I'm looking for freelance / contractor jobs, I'd like to spend some time working on my own to better organize my time and move a few project ideas closer to reality. I'm not completely opposed to being hired, given a good offer it's very probable I'll end up taking it; but given the option, I'd take a freelance contract any day.
